About the Founder

Hello! My name is Victoria Chow. I am an occupational therapist in Seattle, WA who has been working in a variety of settings for over 7 years. I am passionate about working with clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across the lifespan. My previous settings included working in an inclusive early childhood education/research setting at the UW Haring Center's Experimental Education Unit and in an outpatient clinic working with primarily autistic clients whose age ranged from 3-30. I currently work at Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center assessing ADLs/IADLs, motor skills, cognitive skills, and sensory processing skills of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an inpatient setting. (primary population ranges from young adults to elderly adults). As a neurodivergent person, I have a connection to my neurodivergent clients and clients with intellectual/developmental disabilities in that my differences allow me to tune into their unique needs and fuels my drive to create an innovative solution based on those unique needs.
I founded Adaptive Growth OT because I noticed a lack of occupational therapy services/support for adult clients who aged out of the IEP school supported services. This scarcity in services often results in increased behavioral health crises by the adults with IDD and increased caregiver stress. As the founder of Adaptive Growth OT, I am dedicated to utilizing collaborative problem solving with clients and their caregivers to promote meaningful participation in their daily activities. Through my tailored strategies/methods, I will strongly advocate for individuals with IDD to have the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential across all activities and settings in their everyday life.
